Research & Faculty Affairs

The Office of Research and Faculty Affairs is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of CHHS faculty across all stages of their careers. Faculty Development initiatives are intended to enhance research, leadership, service, and community engagement through training opportunities, mentoring, collaborative learning experiences, and professional development and interprofessional collaboration resources.

Leadership Development Programming

The CHHS Leadership Development Program prepares faculty and staff to become effective leaders within the College, the University, and their respective professions. Through workshops, mentoring, self-assessments, and team-based projects, participants strengthen leadership competencies while contributing to initiatives that advance CHHS strategic priorities.

Research and Scholarship

Grant Administration: The Research and Faculty Affairs Team includes two Grant Administration staff who support faculty throughout the grant lifecycle. From identifying potential funding opportunities and developing proposal materials to navigating submission requirements and post-award processes, the GA Team works closely with faculty to enhance grant success and strengthen research capacity across the college. Faculty can receive personalized guidance, resources, and administrative support to help move grants from concept to award.

Data and Systems Tracking: The RFA Data and Systems Specialist supports faculty productivity tracking, research and application administration, and oversees the collection, organization, tracking, and reporting of faculty scholarly activities and lifecycle. RFA’s specialist manages Watermark Faculty Success and InfoReady for CHHS.

External Development Programs & Memberships

NC ACE Institutional Membership: UNCW faculty have access to the North Carolina Association for Women in Higher Education (NC ACE) institutional membership for the 2026-2027 academic year. Membership provides access to professional development resources, networking opportunities, a women's mentoring network, and reduced registration rates for the annual NC ACE conference. Faculty interested in exploring these resources are encouraged to learn more through NC ACE's website and related programming.

AI Literacy Frameworks: As artificial intelligence presence increases, so will its role in healthcare and higher education. The following AI Literacy resources provide information on 20 different frameworks across nine domains, highlighting key constructs, domain distributions, a skills map, and more.

  • Framework Profiles: The Framework Profiles outline metadata, domain distributions, and key constructs. The last 5 frameworks on the page are geared toward the healthcare fields (AI-ABCs, CHUM/SAIH, Ma et al., Gong et al., and AAMC CGEA).
