The Research and Faculty Affairs team offers a variety of programs, events and initiatives designed to foster research collaboration opportunities, support faculty leadership development, advance research success, and celebrate scholarly research, achievement and innovation efforts.

Research & Innovation Day

Held annually during the College of Health and Human Services' Health and Human Services Week, Research and Innovation Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the scholarly and innovative contributions of college faculty, staff and students. Typical programming includes the CHHS Distinguished Researcher presentation and a scientific poster showcase.

LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The CHHS Leadership Development Program is an initiative designed to build a strong pipeline of faculty and staff leaders through an applied, experience-based learning model. Participants will engage in meaningful projects identified as priorities by college leadership while participating in a two-day classroom-based workshop focused on leadership foundations, understanding the university system, self-awareness, communication, and applied leadership skills. The program integrates practical, hands-on project work with guided reflection and mentorship—equipping emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make a lasting impact on the college.

Writing Circles

Writing Circles provide research faculty a designated time and location away from their offices where they can concentrate on study design, methodology and reporting strategies. Held weekly, these writing circles provide a time for elicit colleague feedback regarding proposal concepts and operations, outlines and draft manuscripts and allow Faculty to share in a peer-to-peer support network.

GRANTREADY WORKSHOP

The GrantReady Workshop series is a six-week, faculty-led program designed to help faculty develop foundational knowledge and skills for pursuing external funding opportunities. Participants will move intentionally through the full grant lifecycle from identifying the right funding opportunity to submitting a complete, compliant proposal. The workshop emphasizes strategic grant selection, compelling proposal narratives, realistic budgeting, and institutional compliance.

COFFEE & COPING

Coffee & Coping provides an informal space for faculty to connect, discuss challenges, share experiences, discuss their research interests, and develop interprofessional relationships. This weekly gathering also serves as a platform for research faculty to share their ongoing projects and needs, information regarding funding opportunities, and internal and external policies related to research and scholarship.

RESEARCH BUFFET PRESENTATION SERIES

Held monthly, the Research Buffet Presentation Series showcases research from faculty College-wide. Three faculty presenters share their current areas of research, expertise, and scholarly interests. The program is designed to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, increase awareness of ongoing research across the college, ad create opportunities for faculty to connect around shared research interests and future collaboration.

Funding Your Passion

Do you have a passion project you have been eager to move from idea to action? Something that excites you, stretches your thinking, or opens new possibilities for your research, teaching, service, or innovation?

CHHS invites eligible full-time faculty to submit short proposals for creative, mission-aligned projects that support professional growth while advancing the broader goals of the College and University.

Cultural Activities Funding

The Intercultural and Global Engagement Committee in the College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) invites faculty, staff, and students in the School of Health and Applied Human Sciences, School of Nursing, and School of Social Work to submit proposals for cultural activities that demonstrate the spirit of interprofessional collaboration and promote intercultural learning within the community at large.

Cultural activities promote broad cultural change via the promotion of interprofessional collaboration, community engagement, student engagement, and the arts. Topics should be innovative, challenge issues related to cultural and diverse perspectives, and aimed at raising awareness, addressing contemporary challenges, and promoting collaboration.
