Wings Up for Wilmington

Wings Up for Wilmington is an annual day of service that brings UNCW students, faculty and staff together to give back across the Wilmington area. Launched in September 2019 to mark the anniversary of Hurricane Florence, the event honors the community's resilience and spirit of collaboration.

Each fall, Student Community Engagement brings together students, faculty and staff to support community partners through volunteer projects such as gardening, painting, sorting donations, packing food and environmental cleanups. Participants often highlight how much they enjoy getting off campus, connecting with fellow Seahawks and learning about organizations addressing important social issues.

In 2026, Wings Up for Wilmington will take place on Friday, Sept. 18, and Saturday, Sept. 19.

Find a Volunteer Shift

Join Seahawks across the community for Wings Up for Wilmington! You can find multiple volunteer shifts in late August, making it easy to get involved. Visit Engage UNCW and search for “Wings Up” to find the event, choose your shift and register.
